Default Eratic Gear Changes...

I have a 2001 Discovery Series II SE7 with 100k on it. Lately the transmission has been giving me the gears...excuse the pun! Upon accelaration it changes fast from gear to gear, up & down then settles when speed is got to. I have taken it to numerous mechaics/transmission shops and had them look at it. Transmission and transfer case hasve been serviced with no reports of anything wrong. Recently I was going up a hill and the gears went nuts, instrument panel lights associated with the gears, "S", "M" & center consol "D" lights all flashing and the "Downhill decent" and "TC" lights were on. Once pulled over and engine turned off everything seems to reset.

Can anyone give me any idea what is going on with my Disco? Could this be a computert problem?

Thanks for your input.
Geoff

So do you get any check engine lights?
I thing that can cause this is a battery battery/alternator, go have them tested at your local auto parts store, they will do it for free.

no check engine lights come on. I will have the battery/alternator checked, battery and alternator have been OK, no loss of charge.

I had a tranny problem with a bad clutch Solenoid. It threw a code for mine. p0741 If I remember right. Isn't there a transmission computer for the Disco's? Sorry I'm not much help.

Make sure you have at leats 13.6 to 14.4 volts or your tranny can experience shift issue as you describe.
