As I was driving my 2002 Discovery II on the expressway the other day, I felt a thump and brief but sharp loss of power. It was very fleeting and I wasn't even sure if my foot had slipped off of the accelerator. About 10 minutes later, it clearly happened again. Next day, a few more times. When I was slowly going up the driveway, it stalled but then started right back up. That night, I went for a drive -- close to home -- to see if I could collect more info. After about 15 minutes, the green "m" and "s" lights on the dash started to blink, as well as the red light by the auto transmission lever when in "drive."
After a fair amount of research on this forum, I am wondering if I have a faulty CKP sensor. Battery connections, alternator look OK. I have just ordered a new CKP sensor, but am wondering where the heck on the truck it is?? I've looked at the Rave CD, but the schematic doesn't give me much context. Can someone help me locate it? Is it accessible without removing lots of stuff?
Second question: Can anyone recommend a good reference/repair manual for the ('02) Discovery II, sort of like the way Chilton used to make them?
Nothing is OK until tested. Make sure your cables are clean and tight then go to a local parts store and have them test your battery/alternator, you need somewhere between 13.6 and 14.4 volts at 2000 RPM's

The RAVE manual is THE manual to use for these trucks. It is the factory service manual and nothing else will come close to the level of detail and knowledge contained within those PDFs.
