Default Faulty transmission

I just bought a 2004 land rover discovery (VIN: SALTWI9424A837297) from the US, it was shipped and just delivered to me last week Wednesday. A few days ago I noticed that my transmission was acting up, I had to rev my engine hard to get the car to engage in both Drive and Reverse. I also noticed that the M & S indicator lights were flashing repeatedly as well as the red light on the gear indicator cover. Called in my mechanic to have a look at it and he said it was the gear switch that had a problem, that it kept sending the wrong info to his diagnostic equipment e.g. when he selects a gear it gives either invalid or the wrong position i.e. when put in D it says invalid 1, when put in 2 it says P. when he ran the diagnostic on it it gave him the following codes:

1. Code001 – Position Switch monitoring.
2. Code002 – Gear ratio monitoring (3rd gear).
3. Code003 – Stall speed monitoring.

At the moment its not even accepting any gears at all, and had to have it towed

Please could you help what these codes mean, if he’s right about the faulty gear switch or what do you think is the problem

Thanks and best regards

Get the exact fault codes, what you have posted are not Rover codes.
Have you checked the trannty fluid level?
Do you know how to?
Start the engine, shift from reverse to drive 2 times, put back in park and with the engine running check your fluid level thru the fill plug, add till it comes back out the hole.
