Default A Few DII option questions!?

-First Q, Do all 2003 DII and up have SLS? or do some come with springs, if they do have springs, how is the ride? Especially when compared to a 99 DII?

_Second Q, Are all 03 DII and up equiped with a 4.6, and have A.C.E.?

-Third Q, Do the 03 DII and up have a locking diff? I know the 99 DII has it, but I was told at one point they dropped it, and then brought it back!

-If you had to pick a best over-all year for the DII what would it be?

The reason being, I just purchased a 99 DII for one of my friends, and drove it for a few weeks before she bought it from me. I have a DI and I really started to like some of the DII features! I still love my DI, but if the 03 & 04 models are just as nice, and have the features of my DI, then I wouldn't mind upgrading!
The DII had the following;
-A.C.E. (liked that very much)
-spings as suspension, but I think it was lifted by two inches(Couldn't tell what brand though)
-18" upgraded wheels off of a 2003(i think) much more stable of a ride, but a little bumpy, but that could have been from the stiffer spings
-bigger interior space than my DI,(liked VERY much)
-arm rests( also liked alot)
-Simulated leather? I think, didn't feel like leather, but still looked great, without haveing to worry about constantly taking care of it! Like my DI!
- The ONLY thing that worries me, is that the DII I bought JUST had the heads rebuilt FROM the dealer, because of the "sticky Valves" Is that something that I have to worry about on any of the other years. I was told that my DI had those problems, but 122k miles and NO symptoms.

THANKS soo much for your input!!

1- i think the only D2's with SLS are the se7 models [jump seats in the back]...not sure how it rides compared to springs but i would assume springs have more bounce

2-i think ACE is an option that you get with the sport package....not sure if it's engine specific

3-locking diff's ??? not sure Mike or someones else perhaps....

I think any of the D2 are going to be o/k....but i haven't driven to many so i can't compare....sorry if i'm wrong here...later, Dean

First no D2's come standard with SLS, it was an option only.
2nd, ACE is also only an option.
3rd D2's don't have locking diffs., 99's and 00's were able to reconnect there linkage to use the CDL in the t/case.
I have a 99, and swear by it even though it is the first year of the new Bosh operating system.
Stay away from 18" wheels if you plan on lots of wheeling, 16" tires are stronger. last longer and cheaper with alot better selection of tread designs.
If you plan on wheeling, think 99, 00 or 04's so you will have the CDL Ace is great and as far as I am concerned so is the SLS, on and off the raod.

Ok, thanks, that pretty much answered all of my questions! So ACE is not too much of a deal when off roading? I was wondering about that when I drove it around! Now that you mentioned it, I can see that the first owner of the DII had installed the CDL linkage, as there was a pannel missing by the mirror control! I have not taken my DI through severe wheeling, so I think I may really entertain a 99, 00, or 04! I really like the looks of the 04! Y'all have been a great help!

Some people say ACE is very limiting as far as wheel articulation goes, Rover actually says there is more articulation in the front and rear tires the without. Keep the fluid changed every 15 to 20,000 miles and it will treat you well. I love driving down a mountain road with some other Discos behind me cause they run power thru the corners.
