My wife and I have just gotten her! I think she's great. It's an 02 Series II SE7 with rear air. 46,000 miles and so far she is running like a top. The only problem we have had came up yesterday. When my wife went to open the rear door the handle became lodged up in the black cover and the door won't open. We tried pushing the door shut harder, unlocking and relocking the doors, opening it from the inside, everything. Today, the handle is still stuck and we can't get inside the rear door.
Anyone out there have similar troubles??? Anyone out there have a way to fix this?? Just let me know. I'll try to post some pictures soon. |

This happens alot on the DIs. What you have to do is remove the Land Rover badge from the rear handle (use a small flathead screwdriver) and lubricate the handle mechanism with WD40 or PB Blaster. At least that's what you do on a DI. Good luck and let us know how it works out.

That's happened a dozen times with my 99. The dealer replaced the mechanism when under warranty. Still happens from time to time. I just crawl into the back and using a very unscientific approach pull on the door open handle repeatedly and throw in a few lifting up and down of the lock. Frustration determines the speed of these actions. Always works.

heres the deal,
do like they said, lube it up, But understand this if you wife isnt the type of woman that remembers to close the door and checks to see that it is actually closed then replace it and lube the handle up monthly. I say this because if you dont pay attention and the handle sticks the door may not shut all the way and the door will swing open on the highway. Seen it a few times so remember its your call. Its not hard to install at all. I always lube up the hinge part with copper antiseize in the right spot to make it last a bit longer. |

This happened to the 2000 SE7 I had a few years back. If I recall, I just took a screwdriver and loosened up the screws that hold, uhm, a flat black metal plate into position, squirted some wd-40 in, and tightened it back up. Never happened again.
Sorry I can't be more helpful, but I've adjusted so much stuff on Rovers it sometimes blurs together a bit.

Thanks for all of the responses. I just popped off the land rover plate on the black plastic cover, lubed up the hinges with a little WD 40, pressed down on the lever and it worked right away. I then made sure to give everything a good once over with the WD 40.
Now, if we can figure out why a little water leaks in at the top of the rear door we will be set. Thanks again, I'll post some pictures soon. |
