Hey everyone. Need your help with this one. Got into the 2002 Disco with 61,900 miles on it today. Shifted it to Drive and the "S" and "M" lights on the dash started flashing as well as the gear indicator for Drive "D" was flashing on the dashboard. It's sluggish as I hit the gas for the car to accelerate from a sitting still position.
Any ideas what the problem might be? Any codes I should search for and if so how do I pull up the codes on my radio? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Is this considered three amigos? |

No it's not the three amigos, and this has happened to me before. I just put mine back in park, turned it off, and then back on and it hasn't happened again.
Um codes on your radio....my codes are on a card in my owner's manual, or you can call the dealer to get it.

Hehe.....I was thinking hasn't this been covered at LEAST a thousand times?? And call me silly but if the SES light isn't on - doubt you would get codes for anything. ![]()

My owner's manual says, "If both the Manual and Sport mode lights(shown below) flash together, this indicates an electrical fault with the automatic gearbox. If the lights continue flashing after the vehicle has been brough to a hal and the starter switch has been turned off and then on again, you should see qualified assistance urgently."
I cut it on and off and it's still doing it. |

Check the voltage between the terminals, if it is lower then 13.6 have it tested/charged or replaced. Your lights should go away having been caused by a low voltage problem.
If for any reason this doesn't correct it get back to us. Mike |

Thanks Mike. Taking it in tomorrow to have that checked. Just FYI, I just went out to the Disco, cranked it and no flashing lights whatsoever. Could it be that it was just something that happened freakishly? I'll probably just replace the battery anyway since a 6 year old batter is probably due for replacement.
