Default Front End Issue 03 DII...wobble and pop

I have the dreaded wobble! 03 with 70k miles. Very pronounced when hitting bumps while at highway speeds. I just put a brand new OME steering stabilizer on. No help. Also noticed a "pop" when going very slow and making a sharp turn, either way. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Wobble
Check you tie rod ends for free play.

Pop on sharp turns
Sounds like a CV joint

BTW since you have 70k miles you should make sure your front drive shaft is in good shape. If the u-joints are going bad that maybe your popping noise as well?
If that drive shaft comes apart while your driving you will be replacing your transmission after it beats big chunks out of it.

Speaking of Front Drive Shaft rebuilds. (Which I'm aware should be done),...what is considered a fair price to have this done?

I just paid $225CDN to have the double cardon (which includes 2 u-joints and the centre shaft section) rebuilt. They also balanced it. That price included a $35 freight fee to get the u-joints to me in a timely fashion from the other side of the country.

If theres a pop, it could be a ball-joint. I just fixed one on a GM product that would be a clunk sound when turning right (only right) then clunk again once centered.

CV Joints usually make a continous click click click when turning. At least mostly in my experience.

Check also that the pitman arm is tighly secured to the steering gearbox, and that the bolts that hold the radius arms are properly torqued at the axle and the chassis ends. Also check that the steering gearbox itself is properly torqued to the chassis.

Yes. The cheapest I've found in Dallas for replacing the U joints is $425. That sounds a little high. Some places quoted $600.

My wobble was because my M/T's were not balanced well enough. I just got them re-balanced and the Wobble is nearly gone. One more balance from the tire shop should do the trick.

WOW I think the Tom Woods shafts are only around $350.

I think the price is even cheaper than his website states as I believe he now has a drive shaft flange that does not require the flange adaptor?
