Today i decided to tackle a project that has been nagging at me for some time now. Ever since i've owned my disco, the dang cruise control has not worked. So i got on here, checked out a few past post topics, and thought i found what i was looking for.
Popped the hood and found a hose that was about ripped in half, back behind the battery on the passenger side. So i went to Advanced and picked up a new hose and put it back on. No big deal..! Well took it for a spin down the road and still....the cruise control isnt working. So at this point, i pop the hood again and begin looking for another damaged hose, but cant really find anything except for this little tiny hose about half the size of a pencil. This little hose runs along the back side of the motor, just below the windshield with the rest of those little hoses running back there. Well this hose is cut in half..!!!! and runs down the firewall by the wheel well and to the frame, then runs just under the coil springs by the suspension and to the axle..!! or appears to at least. My question..! WHAT IS THAT??? and why is half the hose gone..!! And do you think this would have anything to do with my cruise control?? which at this point is the least of my worries, cause i havent the slightest clue what this thing is. |

quit your search. It's your axle breather. make sure it is firmly attached into your axle and leave it alone!
Can't wait till you find your cruise control issue, becasue mine never worked either. I never spent any time tryinf to fix it, hope this thread will help both of us. Wimp

your cruise control doesn't work cause the tiny hose on the unit on the passenger side is crackd. cut it and stick it back on.
really easy.

I'm with Rovin4Life ... split vacuum hose at the t-fitting. I think the OP was in the right spot, just didn't fully inspect the hoses. On my DII one of the hoses had split at the t-fitting, but on the P38 it had split further down. Just depends. Check those hoses out of the t-fitting though.
