Default Head Gasket Change

Ok so Im changin my Head Gasket, I read up alot on the forum and just want to see if I've missed anything. I have an external leak and Im planning a big trip in a month or so and I wouldn't like it to turn into an internal one then.

So Im getting everything from Atlantic british, I've been dealing with them so far and they have been awesome, so Im going to keep buying parts from them. The service is top notch and quick.

I got the Head Gasket kit, plus a couple other gaskets that he said were not included, head bolts, water pump, thermistat, belt and a new oil filler cap cause mine sometimes needs a pipe wrench to get it off.

Am I missing anything? On Monday Im going to start to call around to find a shop that can have a look at my Heads.

Thanks! I'm almost finished getting my truck ready and then I'll be driving over stuff. It's gunna be sweet.

Magnacor and a set of plugs. Do an engine flush prior to tearing down the engine and you should be set.

sounds to me like you've got everything. You might notice a coolant hose or two along the way, but chances are you won't notice that until it's torn apart. If you're planning on installing a block heater, now would be the time. Napa sells them for about $30.

It has a block heater, the plugs are pretty new and I forgot to mention the wires.

What should I flush the engine with? ATF or something like that? and just run it for 15 minutes with that in it?

I am a big believer in ATF.
Don't forget to power scrub then engine when you get it all back together, nothing like a clean engine with new head gaskets.

There is an updated exhaust valve for Disco II, don't buy them and put them in, I have noticed no difference and myself do not up sell them to my customers like some places.

Good luck with the overhaul...
