Default Head Gasket Replacement

I am looking to tackle a head gasket replacement by myself and I am looking at what I need to purchase. I know I need the AB kit and replacement head bolts, but is there anything else I should purchase? or think about replacing while it is apart? My disco has about 58,000 miles on it.

Also, are there any special tools that I will need? Your advice would be greatly appreciated since I am a novice at working on my LR. Thanks.

Just out of curiosity, why are you replacing the head gaskets? Based on your mileage you need to do a full 60K with wires at the same time alomg with a new t/stat and any hoses that are needed.

I am leaking antifreeze out the back side of the cylinder heads. I originally thought it was just some hoses that were leaking, so I replaced those. They were leaking, but they weren't the only thing that was leaking. Turns out it was the head gasket. I took it into an indy that I trust and he showed me how it was leaking antifreeze out the back side. I don't feel like shelling out 2000 so I am going to attempt this on my own. No better way to learn than trial by fire!

I have a friend on stand by who is very handy in case I do too much damage.

Do I need to buy the fan pulley wrench for the viscous fan removal? I see it is $120 at rovers north. Is this cheaper anywhere else if I need to buy it?

you need a good wrench not a pulley for this fan..but 120$ is quite expensive
