Default headliner

Has anyone had to have their headliner replaced? I have 2 sunroofs and rear air and I was wondering what the cost would be. Are the headliners bad to fall because mine has not been wet but it is coming down in several places.

Common complaint in earlier model Discovery's from around 95 onwards. The glue that holds the material to the main board becomes brittle with age and crumbles, and even if it doesn't get wet, air blowing in through your windows gets in underneath it and it begins to peel. 91 -94 models didn't seem to suffer the problem, that I'm aware of.

Headliner Express in Central Florida does all the Headliner & Sunroof Repair for
Several Landrover Dealerships in Florida for the last 13 years. On the series models you need to make sure the 60-62 inch width material is used to completely cover the corners as well it needs to be the 1/8th inch thickness as original not the 1/4 inch in which other shops use which is to thick and not wide enough. For those looking to tackle the job their self’s here is a link for the correct material that needs to be used. www.oldstock4less.Com

Instead of replacing the sagging headliner in my DI, I'm thinking about taking it out entirely, taping the windows & edges, priming it, and spraying it with aerosol bedliner.... basically painting it, using this type of paint to give it a bit of texture. No more problems with sagging and a more utilitarian look & feel.

That sound great, but keep in mind that bedliner paint does not expand and contract with the Heat & Cold and could cause more damage than good because of the build up of heat & Possible Fumes that could effect on your health over a long period of time. Another thought too is by removing the Board will make your series sound like a tin can. The Headliner Board act as a sound deadener ...Just a thought to consider.

Tracker- It takes me 3 hours to complete a series from start to finish. It will likely take you most of the day to do the same.

Removing the headliner Board will require a battery powered screw gun with a Philips bit, to remove the Visors, Visor Clips and Overhead console. The grab handles will need to be removed; sorry don’t remember off hand what size socket, but I can find it with no problem in my tool bag.

The Rear Quarter Panels located behind the Rear Seats to the Rear Swinging Door
Have plastic push clips that will best be removed with a door panel tool – “Claw type” to lift up the plastic flat heads to be removed.

You will also need to remove the “B” “Pillar Door Seal” in order to remove the “B” “Pillar Interior Trim Molding.” The Plastic B Post has 2 metal clasp that attach under the door seal and attach to the metal door lip.

If you have a rear seat belt that runs through the Rear Quarter panel you will use a 17mm socket to remove the bolt from the body located near the floor near the rear back door, once the seat belt has been removed feed the end through the rear quarter panel as you remove it from the body of the truck.

Leave the front seats in the upright position, and drop the backrest of the back seats forward.

Don’t forget the remove the rear dome light from the Rear Plastic Console just above the rear seats and disconnect the wire and remove the plastic cover that located next to the dome light that holds the fastening screw that holds the Headliner Board to the roof of the Car before dropping the headliner Board.

Remove the board ( you will be re-using the Board Only )

Remove and throw away the old Material with the foam backing no longer attached to the cloth is now garbage. Use a Nylon Brush and scrub down the Headliner Board to remove all the old foam back.

I have available on my web site enough material in the correct width and thickness to recover your existing board. www.HeadlinerExpress.com

If you still need more info just let me know.

I've got a sagging headliner, and i've actually thought about doing exactly that, that way i'll never have problems with it sagging again
