Well, Dealer checked plugs, wires, coils and compression in #6 all are good. No extrenal leaks can be seen. No oil in water or in cycle #6 .When misfire happens it happens at start up and not everytime. Dealer says no more ideas on extrenal fix problem must be intrenal. He told me sleeve slight dropped causeing misfire due to fluid sepping into cyclinder. I still think its that head gasket they replaced 6,000 miles ago giving me problems and they won't say that due to the fact they are the ones who put it on. Any thoughts

agreed. Head gasket again maybe but a slipped liner seems like a long shot to me.

Well I took it to an independt rover mech. he said that same thing slip sleeve in #6, misfire happens on start due to fuild in cyclinder. He said probably slight slip so only a small amount goes into block after sitting overnight. The pressure good and that is what keeps more fluid going into sleeve while driving. He said exhaust can get forced into the block if the vehicle operates like that. He said can't be head gasket because that the water is routed @ #6 so the chance is small that it could be that. What do you think. This is not sounding good on my end.

Well if it is a liner issue, then you are looking at a short block. I guess some one might beable to fix the liner and reline it or something. I would look for a short block with some kind of warranty.

Theres a shop here that does 4.6L swaps into DII's. The guy said its the same price as the 4.0L and it directly bolts in using alot of the 4.0L stuff.
Something to think about if you decide to fork over all those sheckles. |
