Default Help on tire size

I currently have the range rover 19s on my disco and i want to use my 16 inch rims for mud/winter tires. What is the best size brand and model tire for my stock set up. I do not plan on lifting it.
Here are my guesses (sorry if im way off)
BFs All terrain t/a ko 235-70-16 about $140 each
BFs Mud terrain t/a km 235-70-16 about $170 each
General Grabber AT2 (Cheaper version of the all terrains ko) 255-65-16 about $87 each.

They will be for trail use exclusively and the mud terrains are a little much unless I find some used ones.

Im open to any brand any size as long is recommended by you guys.

You are going to get every tire on the market recommended. Everyone that has ever made a choice of tire will think that their choice is the best.

On a D2 you can fit relatively large tyres with little or no mods. Many here run 34x10.5 with only a slight spring lift and a little trimming of the plastic trim at the bottom of the wheel arches. You will not have any problem fitting 235 or 255 tires. But I think you will find 235's too narrow for your vehicle, 255's are probably more suited.

If you are getting the tires solely for off-road, it seems a bit pointless looking at all-terrain tires. These are for people that want to use the tires mainly on-road while having some off-road capabilities. Mud terrain would be the minimum I would be looking at for an off-road tire and up to a Swamper type tire.

I would lean towards a 245, either the 70 or the75 series. This is about the largest tire you can install on your D2 and not have to trim or have it rub.
My tire of choice is the BFG MT's.
Being nearly neighbors, call me some time and we can talk if you have more questions.

245/75/16 if you're keeping it stock. Yokohama Geolandar a/t's for on/off, or the m/t's for more than 50% off.

245/70/16 is what I ran before I got my lift, worked perfect.

There are not a whole lot of options in m/t's in smaller sizes, the BFG would have it for certain, not sure about the Geolanders. Another good option is Firestone Destination, my buddy has those on his jeep and they work pretty amazing.

Would you guys recommend a 235 tire or a 255 tire?

I currently run 255/55R18 right now.

Im looking to install a set of 32" tires on 16 rims.

It was recommended to stay with 255 or larger, in which case I would run 265/75R16. I'd like to run a set of 235/85, But Im afraid its too narrow and I'd tip over.

WWLRD?

As long as you have a lift I'd go with the 265/75's, IMO they look the best on a lifted disco, if you don't have a lift you'll have issues clearing that big of tires.

Im going to go with the OME lift for the simple fact I can get a smokin deal on the springs.

Alls I have to do is find a set of rims. I'll be running BFG Mud-Terrains. And I'll run my stock tires and 18's when Daily Driving.

Yes they would fit a stock D2, I have 255/70's BFG MT's on my currently stock D2 and haven't had any rubbing problems. They look pretty good too btw.

What about a RTE 1-inch lift: what kind of size could i get off that?
would it be worth it or should i just get some Grabber AT2 and be done with it?

Either of the BF's should be fine. I have the all terrains and i love them, but i do plan on going up to the mud terrain tires soon.
