Default Help - Vibration

My 2000 Discovery with 80,000miles, vibrates at 25mph - 40mph while accelerating gently. I have had the sparkplugs / wires changed, MAF has been cleaned, U joints at driveshaft have been replaced recently and all wheels have been balanced and aligned.

Does anyone have an idea what might be happening ? I originally thought it might be an engine misfire as it felt like it was hesitating but the work done should have solved that.

Appreciate your input.

Both shafts were rebuilt?

Was the center bearing in the front shaft replaced as well?

check your front driveshaft!!! this is very important if you dont have it rebuilt or replaced with serviceable u-joint you can destroy alot of expensive parts, speaking from experience!! have them checked asap!!!

You need to have the balance checked on the front shaft after rebuilding it. When it was rebuilt, was there a new centering pin kit installed?
Have you installed grease fittings in both drive shaft slip joints and lubed them?
How about the rear shaft, have you replaced the rear u-joint and rotoflex if you have one?
How about your motor mounts, you have enough mileage on the truck, you may have broken one, if so replace all 3.
If still there after all of that you need to check the tires again.

Just the front shaft was done. Maybe I should have it looked at again. What do you mean by servicable ? I am not very knowledgable on this ? Would it cause a vibration at a specific speed only or would it not vibrate at all speeds ?

thanks

Mine was only 42 to 50 mph is can be only at certain speeds, may not be a constant vibration

Do the original u-joints on the vehicle have grease fittings ? From reading other posts it sounds like they do not, is that the case.

I there a way of telling if it is the front or rear driveshaft that might be causing the vibration ?

Yes,
Remove the front drive shaft and while under the truck engage the CDL so you can drive on the rear. If need be then remove the rear and drive on the front shaft.

where do you feel the vibration at, in your seat, in the steering wheel, when you brake, or does the dash shake.

the vibration is mostly in the seat / floor, not when braking but when accelerating between 25-40mph (gentle acceleration in traffic).

my mechanic just called after taking a second look at the u-joints / driveshaft. All is OK.

What next I ask.
