Hey guys, after a couple of years away it's great to be a member of the Land Rover family again
. I just purchased a '03 SE, wanted a HSE but it was an impulse buy. Since, in my op, you can't buy a new "real" land rover any more I want to make this one the way I want it and keep it forever. I would like to add the factory Nav. I have searched both here and elsewhere and really couldn't find any info. Does anyone know if it is possible to just add the GPS antenna and swap out the head unit? If anyone could help a brother out it would make you a god among men. Thanks! -T- |

I have an '04 SE7 wanted and HSE7 because of the NAV. I looked into this and the conversion would be more trouble and more expesive than an after maket solution, not to metion sourscing all the parts. Apperaently the whole stereo system incuding the CD changer would have to be replaced to get the same functionality of the Stereo you have now plus the Becker GPS nav Head unit.
Stock Radio is All Alpine. The stereo that came with the HSE are Harmon Kardon. If you must have Nav, I've seen a few that have used Pioneers AVIC N series head unit. Those are single Din with Flip up screen. JVC makes a single DIN unit that would be better than the the stock Nav complete with a little screen, but you may loose Steering Wheel controls and if you're really picky the button call on all these head units will be blue. Alpine also has a flip screen version like pioneer but I'm not sure I personally like the way it pops out of the Dash. Others have done some Dash Modificaiton to fit CAR PC's, maybe something with a bigger screen cold fit? A Garmin seems to look right at home on the dash in these vehicles so that is also and option, and you can take it with you in all your vehicles.

Thanks for the replies. I know I'm a wierdo but I'm just not into the aftermarket stuff, even though it is far far better than the becker traffic pro. Through all my searching I've found that fitting factory nav can be easily done and there are LR part numbers for the patch for steering wheel controls and from what I have seen, the changer stays the same.
