Default Hood release

So I went out to check some fluids today and my hood won't release. Why is it doing this and how do I get the hood to pop open?

Thanks

Try having somebody push down on the front of the hood firmly while you pull the hood release.

My 99 does that 1 in 20 times I pull it, hope that helps.

Been there done that. Your hood release cable has probably stretched or snapped. Happened to me when I went out to change my oil...put a crimp in my day. I've seen a write up on how to fix it, but I took mine my local mechanic at the time. He charged me like $60. Try searching about it, I'll see if I can find the write up.

I think I remember DiscoMike saying he's done it before. I think you buy a kit and it's supposed to be simple. Others have pulled the cable with a pair of pliers in order to get the hood open. If your cable streched that will work, if it broke...no dice.
