Default Hood switch.

I was just changing my air filter and noticed the little switch right next to it didn't have any wires going to it, I saw the wires laying down below the switch, It had an orange/purple and black wire. However, i could not get the plug to go into the switch???? What is the function of this switch? I'm assuming it's something to do with the alarm.

It is the hood switch for the alarm. Without it your alarm should not set, unless someone cross wired it.
Is your alarlm working?

As far as I know it works. What's the easiest way to set it off?

I know the alarm arms itself, cause the red light starts blinking.

I guess I don't understand why i couldn't get the plug to go back into the switch. It was the only plug laying around in that area. the shape of it looked compatible. So, a bit of a mystery to me.

As far as I know, the alarm should not set if the switch is unplugged. Are you the originial owner? I keep thinking someone must have unplugged it cause the switch broke or was acting up, and they tied a couple of wires together to complete the circuit.

Many times people unhook these switchs cause they will fail and cause problems. In your case, it doesn't seem to be causing a problem and I would leave well enoung alone. The only down side for you, if someone tried top poop the hood to steel something, the alarm won't sound.
