Default How to re-program the keyless remote for 03 Discovery?

Help! Is there another way of re-programing my 03 Discovery keyless entry without having to go to the dealer?

After my car battery went dead and later re-charged, my keyless remote will no longer open my doors by using the keyless remote. The dealer wants $118. to re-program and its not very fair for such a high charge for just having a dead battery.

put a battery in it.

if it still doesnt work.

118 sounds like a bargain, you see its really really difficult to program a remote without the original tag that comes along with it. with every new remote there is are two 18 letter combinations that have to be entered to successfully program the remote thru the security module. Now there is a procedure that requires you to open the back of the remote, get a number then use that number in a procedure that LR has that will allow us to enter the numbers in as if we had the tags. Never done it but man its not easy at all.

Thank you for helping me. In my ad, I meant to say it was my car battery that went dead and then was re-charged. But it sounds like I still need LR to correct my problem? Why would this be a problem anytime the car battery should go dead? I've had other car batteries go dead and never heard of this.

I don't really know anything about reprogramming, but I can tell you I've had a dead batt in my truck and didn't have to reprogram keyless...
How long was your battery dead?
