Question How to turn on grill-guard fog lights.

New owner here.

Just bought my first LR, a '99 Disco II and I can't figure out how to turn on the 6"/8" monster fog lights attached to my grill guard. I assume they should be wired into the 3rd fog light switch on the dash, the one with the 2 on it? Maybe a relay is blown? This is embarassing, I can rebuild Porsche transmissions but I can't find a way to turn on my lights.

Obligatory picture of my new girl:

nice lookin truck, and welcome!

They may only go on when the highbeams of the vehicle are on.. so turn on your lights then hit the switch.

I would check the fuses first. They could be driving lights as opposed to fogs which is probably why they're mounted almost if not the same level as your head lamps. So yeah, turn on your high beams and depress the switch. Since you have factory fogs on your valance, I'm guessing it could be the switch with the same symbol but with the #2. Good luck.

Aight, I tried lighting those motha's up with the high-beams on and I got nodda. The lower fog lights in the valence light up no problem and the lights are definitely wired up into the truck. Fuses looked good, though I could not find a specific fuse for the #2 button. There is what looks like a piggy-bag relay module attached to the engine fuse box that could be it, but its fuse is fine also.

Any other suggestions? Somebody around here has to have these lights too!#@#^@ I may have to bust out my multimeter

Chances are that if water/humidity got into these, or if these haven't been used in a while, the h-1 bulbs may have burned out too.Try ruling out the connections first, if still nothing, you can interchange one of the bulbs from the bumper valance fogs(they are the same type of bulb).Just my 2 cents.

I've narrowed it down to the relay module that its piggy-backed onto the engine fuse panel. The lights themselves work fine when I hard wire them, its probably just the relay in the module. Hopefully LR doesn't charge an arm+leg or I may be making one of these from scratch
