Ok. I want some toys go to with this thing... but first window shopping
1. Does anyone have a Borla Exhaust system on their D2? How is it as far as sound and performance? Did you couple it with an Aftermarket filter or Snorkle? 2. Snorkle...So I can't really ford much more with the snorkle than with out it since I have a V8... if I have been reading the board correctly. So for anyone that has a snorkle on their V8, have you seen any performance gains, or has it been more like insurance, you know its there but is it really doing anything??? I know it will help keep out dust and possibly draw in cooler air, but is it a mod you had second thoughts about? Oh and yeah it does just plain look good. Yes I did see the Australian video for Safari Snorkle and I was impressed. Is added wind resistance and noise a factor? Will it affect your field of vision out of the drivers side of the wind shield? 3. Is there an option for Hi-flow CAT's and headders for the 4.6 available in the US? I have seen the RPI offerings but they are in the UK. I also checke out East Coast Rovers and I don't really think they sell parts or anything to upgrade an '04 4.6. I like the engine it just seems capable of just a little more. There is more on the wish list but I'll start with these. I'm interested in interior mods too, like amp, speakers head unit's. Noting too flashy, I like the interior too. I do want to put a Double Din Head Unit from Alpine in (http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/product...model=IVA-W200) but I am not thrilled about having to cut the trim around the AC and Head unit to make it larger for the Double din. I would rather like to find some trim I can experiment with and save the original as a back up incase something happed and I needed to change it back to stock. I have seen it done on this board to put in a carputer that was pretty nice but too much for me. I guess a single din with the flip up screen is not bad but I don't trust that folding screen too much. Does anyone have one of tose mounted in their Disco?

What exactly do you mean in question #2? Am I reading it correctly that you think adding a snorkle will not allow you tranverse greater depths (in water) over the stock setup?

Not very safely. Still run the risk of damaging the ecu don't I??? Do you know here it is? I thought it was mounted rather low.

I actually like the power I just was wondering if there was a way to make life easier on the engine (BREATH bETTER). Maybe gain a mile or two the gallon. I don't plan on any rock crawling or anything like that, but the only prerson I know on base that wheels has a Hard Body Nissan Pick up that I think has at least 35's and the whole truck is Rhino lined. The Disco's cherry is still intact but the first time I take her out I don't want bent rocker panels.

I'd say take her out first learn how to use her than decide what you need on your rig. Most people want to instantly buy tons of steel to put everywhere on the rover without really knowing why they are buying it other than the fact they can say they have it and it looks buff. I still run a pretty much stock Disco because after evaluating what it can do stock and the fact that I use it as a daily driver made me come to the solution I didn't need all that metal for a daily driver. Still not understanding why you think you need a snorkel if you don't even really plan on take it out that much. Really doubt you will gain MPG with just a snorkel installation. Rover = gas gulper (period)

Snorkel does exactly what its supposed to, raise the air intake.. with the deep water out here in jersey, i was getting tons of water in my airbox, killed my MAFS twice... snorkel fixed that... as far as performance, logistically, its getting from a higher/cleaner source, and it also has a 'ram' effect if its facing forward.. I can't remember any big noticable difference though.

You are really going to control yourself when it comes to tires, you will loose 2 MPG easily going over 32"ers. Consider staying at 245/75/16's and if you are worried about messing up your truck when wheeling consider a 2' lift and a set of sliders.
Go check out this toy store, http://www.expeditionexchange.com/ Take care, Mike |

I think you all make very good points. It doesn't really need any mods right now at least not until my skill matches up with the capabilites of the truck, but I am pretty sure I don't want to go off-road with 18" rims. Yeah the snorkle looks cool but I understand it has not flooded here since '92 and even though I would not mind having one I have no practical use for it at this point.
As for gas I normally drive pretty easy. This last 1/2 tank of gas I got 13.4 but I ran it hard a couple of mornings...late for work. Typically I'll get 15-17 which I think is pretty good. I was think about the K&N and chances are my MAF would be the one to soak up the oil so, staying factory with that. It's cheaper to play with my buffer on the weekend anyway. Nothing I hate more than a car that's dirty for no reason (going off road is a good reason). ![]()

Yes, when you can, get some 16' wheels, more tire and sizes to pick from and cheaper. 16" side walls give a better ride, air down better and can be found with a full 3ply construction.
Have fun. Mike |

If you want to save alot of money fixed what needs to be fixed and keep the vehicle stock until you have learned to drive offroad.
In fact instead of wasting money on custom modding do yourself a favor and put that money into off road lessons from an expert. That way you can learn properly how to drive your LR to its full potential. And sadly sixteens are better. In fact I came upon a G4 Disco the other day and it had sixteens. Its not that 18s wouldnt be a bad thing its just a pain in the butt with few tires to get. In fact you cant get Goodyear MTRs in that size. |

I've running 18"' and about the only good choices out there are General AT2 Grabbers, Nitto Terra Grapplers but if you put a 2" you can run 285 so I hear. At least thats the route I am wanting to take.

Thanks I'll look into the tire issue. Right now I am getting good wear out of the Wranglers, but when it comes time to replace. I would rather upgrade.
