I have a 2004 Discovery.
I also have a problem with my instrument panel lights in all the LCD positions. I have the panel dimmer turned up all the way. In the daytime I can't read the displays (clock, radio, heat/AC controls, and odo.) The sunlight overpowers the green light. These are nice and bright at night but when I turn on the headlights they dim, although they remain still readable. Does anyone know of a way to brighten these up or change the color? I have seen catalog listings of gizmos to change light colors on gauges used in some of the rice rockets, but don't know if there is any applicability here. Are there any other Magoos out there who are having this problem? Thanks tom m |

You could do a retrofit of the existing lights with either the new generation of white LEDs (Luxor, one or three watt output)or even using fluroscent lighting with DC input.
Fair warning, Either is a exercise for the intermediate to advanced electronics hobbyist because you have to either pull the bulbs and replace them with the LEDs or install the LEDS side by side. The fluroscent lights in the portable scanners at the fleamarkets put out an amazing amount of light but they will too bright for night use. |
