interior air sensor? - Land Rovers Only

I have a 2000 disco 2. There is a small vent (half inch square) on the lower left side of the steering wheel that appears to bring air into a small motor. This little motor is starting to make noise. What is this for and how do you get the motor out.. looks like its held in by two phillips screws but its quite difficult. thanks

got it figured out.. its a temperature sensor with small motor behind it.. lots of lint built up around the motor causing some noise.. two phillip head screws take it out.. a bit of a pain but go it done.
