Hey everyone,
I have an 03 that has many rattles and other noises when hitting hard bumps. I believe some of it is the backseat, I don't have jump seats. Additionally, the dash makes some noises also. I do a lot of city driving and this drives me nuts. Curious, if others have this problem and how best to deal with it. Also, I have 32k on the truck, do you think my shocks are worn out yet? Will upgrading to aftermarket cushion a bit more? Thanks in advance. Last edited by idl : 07-07-2005 at 04:31 PM. Reason: forgot something. |

interior rattles are just some of the things that are normal for a disco I have found out. I have owned mine for adout a year and a half and I have been working on rattles almost the whole time, and what I have read on this forum I am not alone. I have been able to find and fix most of them but others are still driving me crazy. Good luck on the hunt.

MISSING THE HELL OUT OF SEATTLE

Hi - Welcome to the site. I wish I had an answer for you but I don't. I will how ever remind you that you have purchased a LAND ROVER. Those noises, water leaks, rust spots and odd metal on metal noises are part of the joy and and an everlasting characteristic of the vehicle. If its mechanical fix it,if it's not turn up your radio. There is a good chance they won't go away. Good luck on the search .Cheers

It's funny how people "think" they are getting a Lexus, when they buy their first Rover.

It's funny Idl because I'm the exact same way and it drives my wife nuts! Every little rattle has to be fixed on the spot
One time I actually got off the freeway to find a rattle... It helps to take a drive whith someone else in the car and have them or yourself fiddle with everything to track down the source. The rear seats are know for making noises. I don't have the third row so I mainly get the noise from my rear seat and instrument cluster... Good luck tracking down the source You may find this link helpful: http://www.disco2.com/howto/article.php?id=1 And welcome to LRO Post some pictures when you get a chance ![]()

I had a squeaky noise near the steering wheel that drove me nuts for weeks. It turned out to be two pieces of foam insulation rubbing together inside the fuse access panel. A little cement glue fixed the problem.

IDL - welcome to LR... plastic rattles are your new best friends
![]() At first when I got my truck it drove me insane to hear all the rattles. Now I notice nothing. Funny thing is, since I've put on OME and 32" BFGs, while the ride is much more firm, it rattles less... or it could just be my imagination, lol. One thing that helped me solve a few noteworthy rattles in the back was to make sure all of my plastic retainers were inserted all the way... just push on each you see, some of these come out a few notches. Also, What i found to be quite helpful is putting my tools in rear storage compartments on a soft rag: it keeps the plastics in place better and doesn't let it twist and rattle as much. Oh, one more thing: on the storage bins you can put those small rubber "feet" (that you get at like Home Depot) all around the lids. That'll keep the lids in place and relieve plenty of rattles. |
