Exclamation UPDATE!! It's getting louder..

At around 70-75 mph, whenever I push the accelerator softly, I get a louder than normal high high pitched noise! I have had it before, but now it's just alot louder! Would you mind helping me out?

Thanks!!

John-Robert

UPDATE!: Let me also exaplin what has been recently fixed on the truck. That MIGHT explain something..

In the past three weeks, this has been done:

- Left Idler Pulley
- Right Idler Pulley
- Acc. Belt tensioner Assembly
- Oil Pan Gasket
- Front Main Seal
- Rear Main Seal
- Valve Cover Gasket
- Rear Left Window Regulator (needs to go back in because that wasn't correctly fixed)
- Power Steering Return hose
- Power Steering Suction hose
- Intake Plenum Gasket
- Axle Seal
- AT Rear Seal
- Sunroof Seal
- Exhaust Manifold gasket
- Oil Filter
- Mobil 1 0W-40 Fully Synthetic Oil

$2,415.24- Warranty took care of

$458. 53- Out of pocket..

Would that explain the louder noise?? and also, no, my driveshaft has not been rebuilt yet.

How long ago did you change the oil in your t/case? Might want to check the fluid level, same with the diffs.
If the noise is coming from one of them, I might suggest going to a heavier gear oil. I run an 85W/140 which has really quieted down my gears.

have you had your front driveshaft rebuilt yet?
I get a little high-pitched whine when I let off the accelerator at 55-65, but it's pretty quiet and has always done it. I'd check your fluids as well.

does it sound almost like a little bird tweeting?

if so it's most likely your drive shaft. they go out about every 60K or less
if you don't get it changed and it breaks it will take out your tranny as well.
it will crach the tranny housing. and a few hundred becomes a few thousand dollar problem. ( it happened to me, 3 months after I got my D2 good thing for warantees )

Good luck, FYI i'm having my 2nd shaft rebuilt tomorrow ironically

Have them rebuild with good u-joints and grease the every 12 months or 12,000 miles and they won't fail to speak of.

Take it to a driveshaft shop. They will rebuild and balance the shaft. Make sure they use greasable u-joints (any good driveline shop will do that anyways, but just to be safe).

I just had my driveshaft rebuilt, it seems that Land rover got wise, the new shafts will last longer. and they dropped the price on them. if you don't feel like getting the greased one installed. you could go with the new OEM. it will last longer. and it only costs a little bit more than the rebuilts with the Zurc fittings.

I'm on my way to the shop to get it. I'll post more info. when I can.
