Exclamation Its Official!

I am now a proud owner of a 2003 Disco SE7!!!...

My dad and I flew up to Dallas from McAllen this morning, got picked up from the airport and we drove the car off the lot around 11:00 this morning.

Of course, these things never go without having problems, and we did run into a couple of things. On the drive back home, the ACE light came on, but it was an amber color.. I turned the car off, turned it back on and the light went away. About a half hour later, the light came back on. We stopped to eat lunch, and when we turned the car back on the light was off, and stayed off for the rest of the trip...

Now, this is the kinda big problem. We ran into some pretty heavy rains coming home, and when we got home, my mom noticed that the front passenger side (interior) was soaking wet!... Later on, my brother got into the back seat (right side) and it was wet as well.... Now, what could possibly be causing this puddling?? I'm not gunna give up on this car because I love it toooo much, but.. i need some help...

Thank you!

could be air conditioning drains... they run right down by the transmission tunnel and get clogged up easily.. you can go under the truck and reach up.. they are on either side of the bellhousing.. I think the passenger one is right by the rear ujoint on the front driveshaft.. it's a rubber nipple that you can squeeze or stick something in to unclog... just make sure you wear a beater tshirt as you'll usually get a armpit full of dirty water... do it while the car is cold b/c you gotta reach up past the exhaust.

first blow out the sunroof drains, take a air hose and it should clear them. then pour the water down the side of the sunroof to get it it drain.

if it is the ac drains you have to take a screwdriver or a stick and push the drains in. what you need to do is crawl underneath the truck at the transmission and look up. the drains are two little hose ends on both sides of the transmission.

watch out water comes down and it aint pretty.

but try the sunroof first.

unless you have been running the ac.

Were you running the A/C all the time? If so like rmuller said check your A/C drains. Our 1999 Disco II kept having a wet floor on both sides in the front and rear seats. I took the who dash apart and found it was the A/C drains. Come to find out, I really didn't have to do that. I could have just massaged them or went from below to onclog them. They were realy clogged you should have seen what came out of them. A bunch of GUNK!.

Good luck,

Updates...kinda...:
My dad and I decided to take it to the dealership, so this morning, at 7:30, I was the first person in line at the service dept. I had a bunch if other things that needed to be looked at... here is the list of things... would any of these be undera Supreme bumper to bumper extended warranty?

1.) Check both the sunroof drains and A/C drains and make sure they are unclogged
2.) I had folded the rear seats yesterday because I was vaccuming the back, and the bigger of the 2nd row seats wouldn't fold back up. The back side seemed to be held down by the belt, so im pretty sure the belt needs to be replaced.
3.) Lubricate the sunroofs because they were making noises.
3.) Check and see why the ACE (amber) light keeps turning on.
4.) I had gone through some mud yesterday and after a while, those three lights turned on... I turned the car off, turned it back on, (the lights didn't come back on) ran he truck through the car wash, and the lights never came back on... I don't know its its relevant.. but oh well...
5.) oh! and one last thing... it doesn't shift into "drive" immediately. I have to wait about two or three seconds, and then it shifts over.. so im having the dealership look at that.

So far, thats it.... I sure as hell hope something is covered under warranty... .. i'll update ya'll when I hear from the dealership...

Sounds like that was a happy time for that dealer...I believe most used vehicles are covered under a 30-day warranty are they not, or was yours sold "as is"? I would contact them and at least let them know the status of your mechanical problems and that they happened on the drive home - not like you'd put a lot of miles on it, or abused it.

Hopefully, you're covered under the factory, or extended warranty - both of the issues you described can be chronic D2 problems...and chronic issues for the checking account...

I hope your dealer gets the problems fixed and enjoy your D2, warts and all!

Default Update!

Sooo.. I took the truck to the dealer last Monday and they diagnosed the problem by saying it was a failing ABS Modulator?? Well, anyway, since the part alone was $1,800 and since the truck is under warrenty, there had to be an inspector come in and check it out... soo, they replaced the modulator and I got it back on Friday, since then, no lights of any kind have shown up!!.. Now I don't wanna go and jinx it now... but also! The stupid, incompetent service rep didn't have the other things fixed, so now, it has to go back into the shop on Tuesday to get the rotors replaced, and.. and I don't know if anyone has had this problem, but I had folded the middle 2nd row seat down to clean the carpets under the seat... anyway, i fastened the seat back on the ground, but the seat back won't come back up... it seems like the seat belt is keeping it form coming back up, so that needs to be replaced at a cost of $410.... ughh... oh well...

Let me know whatcha all think and have a great weekend!

If the back of the seat is folded down, and you cannot get it to release and come back upright, try pulling the strap to tilt the seat forward again and check the latching mechanism on both the seat, and the area on the which it engages on the cargo bed floor. Things (Happy Meal toys, straws, candy wrappers, etc.) can get lodged in both, and prevent the seat bottom from fully engaging, which will prevent the seatback returning to its upright position. If it looks clean, use a little more force when returning it to normal seated position, sometimes I have to slam mine down.
You are speaking of the rear passenger seat not the cargo area jump seats correct? The cargo jump seats are famous for getting stuck and not releasing...major PITA!
