I will be taking delivery of a Fleetwood Evolution E3 in a couple of weeks so hoping someone here can help.
First, I was wondering if anyone has noticed that the receiver hitch opening on the Discovery (mine being a 2004) is about a 16th of an inch (maybe more) too big. Sorry it is just a pet peeve of mine but for the past year I have been towing a little utility trailer around and the thing is noisy as hell, when you hit a bump it yanks all over the place, even worse when there is no load - The thing sounds like it is falling apart. I have towed many times before but never dealt with a problem like this. I have tried my ball/hitch slider on most of my friends receivers (non LR) and it seems to fit nice and snug on theirs. I have also taken my Disco to a trailer supply store and they also told me it had way too much play, not good for towing a 4000lb trailer. Does anyone know if I need to by the one from Land Rover, you know the one with the nice carrying case for $125 +, if I want it to fit right? For the time being I had a friend weld some 16th inch pieces of metal to the slider and now it fits more snug. Second, Being that I was planning on getting a trailer last year, which I figured would have trailer brakes, I went ahead and bought the LR 7-pin wiring harness. Well I now found out that the LR 7 way (round-pin) is not what the trailers use, I need a 7 way (flat-pin). Is this some kind of British thing? I would really like to not have to splice into my wiring just to add on a receptacle with the flat pins. At that point I may as well just get rid of the LR one and attach an aftermarket one in it's place. I have also looked to see if they make something that would match the LR receptacle but on the trailer side. Anyone have any thoughts on either of these rants. Thanks

Ok, Well like they say "Necessity is the Art of Invention" or at least in my case "Necessity is getting your butt out of the chair and taking a look at the 7 way round pin to 4 way flat pin adapter you also bought from LR so you could tow your little utility trailer"...... Guess what I can take it apart and easily add it to the trailer side. I can't believe I actually (stupidly) took the effort to sit down and post a question such as this with out exhausting all the possibilities.
Well anyway, if anyone has any input regarding the (in my opinion) way too big opening of the hitch receiver I would still appreciate any input. Of course at this point I wonder if I may just be delusional. Well if it weren't for the fact that I have confirmation from others I would seriously consider it.

mine does same thing. It sucks!
maybe it is metric? maybe they want you to buy their special sized hitch? not sure. eventually I am going to weld mine up with spacers or maybe just weld and grind to fit.

same problem in oz.loose hitch no worries just run a weld on each side of tongue and file to fit.if it wears use hardfacing rods.i use 3 different height receivers and only the pommie one fits snug.
