I was just curious on how reliable the Land Rover Discovery 2 is to everyone else that ones one?
I ve had one for little over a year now and it hasn't be a problem at all.
People have been saying that Land Rover is one of the least reliable car makers out there, is this true?
Again I have little to complain about my d2 and I would like to hear some more get up stories!!
Thanks
Andrew
I wouldn't call it a reliable truck.. but then again, I wouldn't call it a non-reliable truck. It works when it works, it doesn't work when it doesn't work. Keep an eye on things and maintain it very well, and it'll be good... but there is always a chance of things breaking, no matter what you drive.

I'd call it a very reliable truck. Stuff breaks, but even with broken stuff it's always been drivable.

I agree...mine has been quite reliable. Nothing major so far. Not at all something you'd weld the hood shut on, takes some effort to keep them running like they're supposed to be, but they will take alot of abuse. I knew what I was getting into when I got mine...I like the way it looks, I love the way it performs off road. And around here you dont find yourself pulling up to one at every stop light you come to...and it was cheap...thats always a plus

Agreed. Toyotas are deemed pretty "reliable." I had a 97 Corolla that I sold to my friends and it still runs great with no problems. My brother bought a 2000 Corolla and had it only for 9 months after shoveling thousands into it. Turned out to be a horrible car.
I know by buying an 03 I took a risk...bought it in August and have changed the spark plugs, wires, and u-joints.
I remember reading on one of these forums somewhere about comparing a Land Rover to an expensive prostitute: She'll cost you a lot of money, but she's worth every penny. At least you don't have to take your Disco out to dinner once a week, tell her she looks gorgeous even when she looks like hell, and buy her fancy presents.

I will be asking a lot of questions...please excuse my ignorance!

I never did that for a prostitute either.

i have had my '99 disco II for 6 years, i fine it very reliable . the only time it left me on the side of the road was my fault for not listening to the u-joint chirp at me. change the oil and keep her maintained and she won't let you down. so far easy to work on. i' ve done brakes, suspension, transmission and drive shaft work my self with out problems. she is just a little expensive but you get what you pay for.
i can't think of a better truck for me.... except maybe a tdi defender .
