Default Land Rover extended warranties RULE!!!!!!!!

With all the questions about Land Rover extended warranties floating around on this board recently, just wanted to share my recent experiance. My wifes truck is a 2000 D2 bought with 42K miles 2 years ago, she now has about 70K on it and the warranty is about to run out. So we had a few issues like leaking seals, poorly shifting trans., etc.. Front engine cover gasket, rear main seal, valve covers, all replaced... under warranty! Trans. didn't get replaced like we had thought but a new filter put in... Now for the BIG news for those of you on the fence about purchasing an extended warranty or not! When we purchased the vehicle the frame was in pretty tatty shape unlike the rest of the truck, so LR suggested we have it undercoated($300), that flaked off in about a month! We complained...nicely, if there is such a thing. Which brings me up until this recent last warranty service. The local dealer had a LRNA rep come out to take a look at the frame on Friday as the corrosion warranty ran out today, his decision...Land Rover IS GOING TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FRAME UNDER WARRANTY!!!!!!! The frame is getting shipped from the UK and should be here in Louisville in about 4 to 5 weeks and it should take them two to three weeks of work to do it. I am going to try and get in there to take pics of the job...if they let me. I will keep everyone posted, I am F'ing pumped!

Get the LR warranty if at all possible, saved us tens of thousands of dollars!!

Cool cool. Grats on not having to sell your first born to pay for repairs!

I got broadsided at about 10,000 miles on my 98discov back in 1999 while on vacation, I had to get frame work done as well. Insurance took care of that one though hehe.

Sorry to hear about your accident, hope everyone was OK.

Yeah they said the frame was being shipped from the Uk and the cost alone for the frame was $10,000!! Not including the labor for twi techs and a good two or three weeks of labor at $125/hour! They should just trade us one of the 04 D2's they have on their lot for $30K, it would be cheaper for LR.

Have'm ship a diesel motor preinstalled on that chasis while their at it. It'll save them many hours in swapping your motor on there.

WHOA!!! Do you have any pictures of the current frame? I'd like to see what they consider a total frame loss due to corrosion on a MY 2000 vehicle with only 70K on it!

I will be getting her truck back tommorrow and will post up some pics of the frame. I am also going to try to get in the shop when they start on the frame swap and get pics when they start work on it, but that will be about 5 weeks or so. My wife and I did not even know about a corrosion warranty... a little mouse called from the dealer and told us about it! How bad is your frame? On my wifes truck huge sheets of rust(the entire frame, my 89 RRC was 100% better shape), and I guess they found a few holes! Don't know how that happened, my 97 is from the twin cities and doesn't have ANY rust at all!

My frame isn't that bad. The usual surface rust in spots as the black primer on the frame wasn't nearly as thick as it should have been. Nothing a can of rustolium won't cure. Perhaps 'll crawl back under the pig to poke around a bit.

Even better news. Any work that we have done, say putting on new shocks and springs and a lift will be free labor because they have to take it apart anyway. Sooooo, looks like we may convert to coils in the back after all!
