I have a 2000 Land Rover disco and wondering if there are any companies in the San Francisco Bay Area that you guys recommend to do the work?

First off, I wouldn't go over 2 inches, since you need to start digging deep into mods if you go higher.

second...Just how mechanical are you??? Lifting a disco is pretty straightforward. all you need is spring compressors and a little supervising from us.

I agree, don't go with a 3", it can be up to 3 times more expensive with all the additional parts that are required. Stay with a good 2".
Give Tony at Cerrone's, in Redwood City a call, 650-365-4145, they have an excellent shop.

If you can handle brakes and such, then suspension will be a walk in the park.

I recommend the Old man emu suspension, since that is what I run and like it a lot. There are other companies that cater to Rovers, like Rovertym from which I heard good things, but I have no experience with them.

Let us know once you have the kit, and we'll walk you trough it. Wouldn't hurt if you have a friend that can help, and I recommend that you get spring compressors. The type that attach to the springs from the outside. NOT the inside, since they are a PITA to work with.

Very important...If you get the Old Man EMU springs, DO NOT remove the little stickers that are on them. They are codes to tell you on which side they go since they are not the same lenght. I had to do the Job twice because I didn't know that and removed them when I took the springs out of the box, as a means to get ready for the job .

Later,

Steph.

Mike,

Thanks form your reply!

I actually live in redwood city. When I was having a problem with the three amigos I went to Cerrone's and they wanted 145.00 to run a diagnostic. That is in line with dealer prices.

You got a secret password or something to get a better price on service there?
I know they are good but dealer prices?

any help?

thanks

No, but if you call Tony, you will find he has about the best prices going on line for OME suspension lifts.

Rovertym springs hands down over Old Man Emu. If you wheel a lot go with the 3" rovertym lift with the bilstein shocks. You probably won't regret going 3" over the 2", but you probably WILL regret going 2" instead of doing the 3". But you will definitely regret putting old man emu springs on instead of the rovertym springs, especially the 2" springs. Everyone I know that has put on old man emu springs has been disappointed due to the amount of sagging and have either gone with rovertym springs or wishes they would have. You gain more lift with the RTE 2" springs (actually almost 3 inches) and they will not sag like the OME springs will. I put the 2" lift on and wish I would have done the 3". Check out www.disconomad.com and check out his set up. He went with old man emu 2 inch, then rovertym 2 inch, then rovertym 3". Plus, you can't get any better customer service than from Steve and the guys at rovertym.

Go big or go home. I have the OME lift and now wish I had gone with the RTE 3".

The higher you lift, the more stuff needs to be addressed. Higher means bigger tires, which means more effects on brakes, driveline and axle strenght, not to mention the axle ratio that needs changing.
