All right all I have a 2001 Disco with the Diesel TD5 engine auto transmission. European Specs. Love the car but I noticed a oil spot under the car. I got on my creeper and checked it out.
Good news it is not an oil leak/ my oil is dark and needs to be changed. Bad news is that it looks like it is the transmission or gear/box right behind the engine(the fluid looks more like gear oil than trans fluid light brown vs red). It looks like it has dropped about half a pint (just guessing) Ok I don't have a service manual or even owners manual b/c the manual is written in German. My questions: 1. How do you check the fluid and add more? Is it sealed? 2. After exploring the bottom of the car I could not find an oil filter? Where the heck is it? 3. Can anyone reccomend a good service manual or download for this vehicle? I consider myself pretty good with a car but I am looking at this thing and feelin really stupid right now. ![]() Any help would be appreciated |

If it is the t/case, there are no filters. The drain plug id a 1/2" plug on the bottom of the case, the fill/inspection plug is on the back side of the t/case, up high partially hidden by the e-brake drum, same type of plug as the drain plug.
