Default Life expectancy of an 03 Disco....????

Should I continue to use my LR dealer for ALL scheduled service what kind of life expectancy should I get out of my Disco tranny and 4.6L motor? 200K?? Wondering how well the LR motors and trannys hold up.
Thanks!

Do your oil changes every 3000 miles and enjoy the next 200,000 miles.

Don't mean to hi-jack. If you use a high mileage synthetic can't you extened the drain intervals. I have not heard of synthetics forming sludge. I myself have been thinking of using a product like Amsoil that can extend oil changes to 25k. I have had my Disco for 2 years now and it seems like I'm doing oil changes every other month. For a time I did them once a month because I hit 3k so fast. I think my average right now is 21.5K a year. Mike any thoughts. Extending to 7500 would be good too. For the record I'm doing 3k oil changes and I trying the Lucas Upper Cylinder Lubricant per their instructions and adding it to every tank full to see if there is any increase in mileage, and hopefully keep the carbon down. Also considering their Heavy duty oil stabilizer to help with tap at startup.

LR scheduled oil changes are every 7500 using full Syn. Used Valvoline full Syn last change but will switch to Mobil 1 since it did wonders to my transfer case and also my Mercedes uses Mobil 1 full syn and it's scheduled oil changes are every 13,000.

...So for me... Mobil 1 Syn every 7,500.

Good to know but doesn't Syn cause seals to leak due to lack of conditioning and what about the Sludge build up these motors are know for.

I would love 7500 OCI's during the summer I have to change the oil at least once a month if not ever other month doing 3k 0CI's.

Thinking of Valvoline full Syn as I have had good experiences with their Max Life product, or Castrol Syntec. Amsoil is too boutique for me. I like to my oil upat the store for low dollars, but I'd pay for a good synthetic.
