Hey all. Can anyone tell me their experiences with the so called "lifetime warrenty" aftermarket pads and rotors. I found a complete setup at brakeplanet.com for $275 was just wondering what others might know about this. Thanks

Only my opinion, but I have never liked those pads..they are wicked hard and have a much higher "squeal" potential, and will eat your rotors too. I'm sure others have had better experiences, but there ya go.
I guess the upshot is that they ARE lifetime pads....Todd |

They are silver zinc coated? but you have a great point about as long as in business. Would the rotors that are set up with the pads be hard enough to stand up to pads you think? since both are lifetime warrenty?

Do you have a link to what you are buying?
I wouldn't really compare warranty to quality. From what I understand heat is a main issue and will have more of a chance to cause warping and wear over time. So for a quality rotor I usually look for a cross-drilled or slotted rotor or even both together. That will help the rotor stay cool and have less chance of heat taking it's toll over time. As for hardness if they are both made out of the same material they will wear the same, but if one is harder it most likely will out last the other. This also depends on your breaking style and how you drive. In my experience during normal wear, break pads never out last rotors no matter what the quality is. They are usually always changed together or you change pads at least once before you change the rotors. |
