Ello ello, how everyone doing? I bought a 2004 Disco SE on October and I am looking to get about a 2" lifter from Rovertym (just because I have heard they are good quality and they are actually a little bigger then stated), and am curious of a few other things...First off, what else will I need besides just the springs and shocks?
Secondly, I have stock 18 inch-er's right now and would like to keep them. So what kind of tires offer good traction in slippery environments (snow, ice, rain, mud, gravel, etc..) like it is 300 days out of the year here in the Puget Sound. But they also need to be comfortable while driving down the highway at 60+. I was thinking about either the Toyo Open Country AT (seem like the most practical and popular) or the BF Goodrich T/A KO's...First off I don't actually know the tire size for the stock 18" wheels, and how large can I got with a 2" lift. Thanks all! ![]() |

If you buy from Steve at RTE, also buy the HD OME shocks and steering stabilizer.
As for the tires, you would be alot better off selling your 18" wheels and buying a set of 16's, the tire selection is better and cheaper, the 16's ride better, hold up better off road and you get a much better selection of tires to pick from.My suggestion would be a 265/75/16 in one of the BFG tires, be it the AT or MT's. Gracia Mike, so pretty much 18's aren't plausable? Because I like the look of them and I'm not looking to do any hardcore off-roading, but if It would be alot cheaper and better for the disco I would have to go with 16's.

If you have an SE then you have air suspension in the rear. You can either replace it with springs or install 2" spacer in the rear and taller springs only in the front. If you go with springs all round then you need some additional parts: spring seats and isolators plus you will have to have the "suspension type" reprogrammed in the ECU from "air" to "coil". A dealer or LR independent shop can do this with their test gear.
X2 on the OME shocks. Love 'em! I agree with everything Mike said about tires. But if you don't want to go that far there are decent choices for tires for 18" rims - even larger sizes. Go to The Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels and poke around. Or do a search on the forums: there's only about 1000 threads discussing this topic! ![]()

That's right... my 01 SE had coil springs front and rear and my 04 SE has coil springs front and rear. I purchased them new and that's the way they came from the factory.

no, the way to tell is this...
if there are springs in the rear, you have rear coil springs if your have rear airbags, then you have rear SLS! isn't it simple enough?! HAHAHA

So I have the little mud flaps but I also have coils. What does that make my G4 - a bastard?? That's 'cause I didn't bother to remove the little mud flaps when I switched to coils. Best look for the bags/coils to be sure.
![]() Oh, and I also have the little switch on the dash to raise/lower the SLS but it doesn't work since I disabled it when I did the coil job.
