I have an oil leak somewhere in the front and left of the engine compartment up near the power steering pump. I put it on a lift I have access to just to see if it was obvious, it wasn't, and I don't have enough days at home to wash/run/check/RR the problem. I also don't want to turn it over to the dealership, and I don't know of any reputable independents here. If anyone on here has any advice on where to take it please let me know.
I live in Palm Harbor, FL so anything in ~20miles would be fine. Turnaround time is not critical as I am leaving on a 16 day trip on Saturday and would love to return to a leak free '02 Disco II. Duc |

It will take you all of 1/2 hour to clean, drive and recheck for your oil leak, why spend money having a mechanic do it. If it is leaking on the drivers side it can only be power steering fluid, or engine oil from the front cover or a head gasket.

PS fluid is topped off (haven't had to add any) but pump is wet with oil.
Valve covers are dusty (I know you didn't mention them but thought I'd add) If its the head, or front cover, how time consuming is that? I'm down to 3 days off after today and wont be back for 16 days so I would like to finish it before leaving. Thanks Mike |

Worse case, if it were looking at having to replace the head gasket and assuming you don't have to send the heads out for repairs, you will be looking at 2 days down time.
Nearly 1 day down time if it were the front cover. How bad is the leak, are you dripping, if not deal with it when you get back and just keep an eye on your fluid levels while traveling. Mike |

not a bad leak, just started spotting the garage so I put it on the lift and realized its been leaking for a while. Ill probably just add some oil and deal with it when I get home. When I travel my Disco just sits in the airport parking lot
.On a side note DiscoMike, and I think I speak for most on here, You are by far one of the most valuable members on here. I have solved many curiosities and LandRoverisms by simply reading your posts. And I would like to thank you for taking the time to work with so many on here. Thanks again, Duc |

Yup DM rocks!
I haven't heard of any indies around here, but doesn't mean there aren't since I'm a noob. Safari Rover in Orlando might do service , and there's some guy in Largo but I think he only works on Series. That's all I've heard about. Could try posting the question on the Florida Land Rover Club board.Airport parking is getting expensive ain't it ![]()
