Loud grinding / whirling sound

I'm getting an occasional grinding whirling sound on start up, and sometimes while I'm driving. If I start the truck up and it makes the sound I can shut it off and restart and it's fine. I do know it has something to do with my heating/ climate control. I get the sound when I switch from windshield defrost to anything else. I'm just not sure what to check first on this one. Blend door motor? The sound is driver side.

Something stuck in your blower motor.

its coming from the driver side, isnt the blower under the glove box pass side?

Then it is the small air sampler used by the a/c system to determine the inside cabin air temp, just behind the small grill just to the left of the steering column.
