Default LR Disco II Starting issues?

I have a 2001 LR Discovery SE7, 130K miles, well maintained, not off-roaded, and have had no major issues in the past.

However, over the past two weeks I have had a range of issues from lack of starting, M & S Flashing Warning lights and the "three amigos" (ABS/Hill-Descent/etc.) warnings.

Regarding the lack of starting, the discovery starts in the morning, I drive it around town and then park it. An hour or two later when I return and start it, it cranks over, but will not start. We have recently replaced the battery and then the fuel pump thinking that was the issue, but the lack of starting returned. There is NO smell of gas (like it is flooded) and when checking error codes, have found 2 cylinders with misfire errors which we think may be due to the lack of starting?

Also we have had some issues starting it, when it will not turn over and I have to wiggle the gearshift in PARK position.

My questions are these: Has anyone else had these issues? How have you identified and resolved them? Is it perhaps caused by faulty electronic module link to the automatic transmission and/or security system?

Thanks!

I think I'd address more simpler things like changing the spark plugs and spark plug wires. Thet usually fail around your mileage if not earlier.

I do that every 30 K miles. The engine is getting spark, for some reason no gas. I am thinking there is an electrical issue somewhere as I have gotten a very unusual amount of warning lights in the past two weeks on a vehicle, that my import mechanic has maintained religiously!

What codes are you pulling? the misfires can be related to a bunch of things;

- wires
- plugs
- coil pack
- ecu
etc..

Simple cylinder misfires on 4 and 5, something like that.

With all the warning lights, I wonder if I have a ground issue or a malfunction in some kind of electrical module or the security/immobilizer system?

warning lights are normal.. it's in 'limp home' mode..

If it's misfires on 4 & 5, they are on different coil packs so I wouldn't think that would be it..
