There was a post on this site regarding a similar problem......and if i remember correctly the cause was the computer control of the sls and not the bags themselves........check it out.

We have installed the Arnott bags on a couple Rovers recently and they appear to be a better design. About a third of the price of Genuine too!

Sounds good Rover66, where did you pick these up from? Is there a DIY site online where I could get more info on this repair/swap? I would like to do it myself. Thanks.

lshill05,
Interesting comment on the computer bit. My 99' Disco II has a strange problem with the SLS. Sometimes it will stay level for days sitting there and then other times I will go inside the house for 10-15 minutes and will come out only to find the rear end will be bottomed out on both sides. When it bottoms out it does it on both sides not just one side. Also it seems if the front end is parked slightly higher (vehicle parked on any kind of incline) then it is more prone to this happening.

The Disco's going to the dealer to get diagnosed next week. Weird thing is that when the air suspension is full, there seems to be no leaks. My suspension kinda has a mind of it's own sometimes but I'm starting to wonder if it is the air suspension I need to replace or some kind of regulator or controller. Yesterday, my wife drove the Disco all day with the suspension fine. She got home and I was in the garage. She parked the car, all is fine, back end is up. I'm still in the garage working on a few things and 10 mins. later, I hear air coming out of the suspension, not like a leak, but it seems like the computer told the suspension to let air out and drop that end. All day, the suspension was up and running normal. This seems pretty strange, anyone had this with a faulty air suspension?????

Hey lshill05, I searched the forum for this but couldn't find anything. Do you possibly remember where you may have found this post? This is something I would really like to look into as well. My air bags seem to be working fine now, sometimes, don't ask me how or for how long, and this is just the strangest thing to me. Nothing seems to be predictable anymore. Thanks!

Well, had the dealer look at it and they did tell me that it was the air bag suspension and told me there was a leak. Here's the low down of the costs:

Air bag replacement OEM part: $506 CDN
Labour and diagnostics: $210 CDN
Total: $716 + taxes.

Whoa man!!! This is only for one side too. I wish I had more time to do the repair myself and get aftermarket parts and save some dough but my wife needs her ride ASAP. I guess I'll know for next time when the other side craps out too. Thanks all for all your help and hope this post helps others in the future!

wow that is alot for just one side. I have used the arnott bags on my old lincoln mark8 (had full air ride front and rear) and they were great. Not sure how it is set up on the DII's, but I cannot imagine it would be to hard to replace them.

Also be prepared for the other side to go out soon. They seem to follow each other very closely.

Whan replacing bags yourself... do you need to re-calibrate the air suspension... i think i've got this same problem, but would like to do the repair myself.
