Cool Lucas inj. cleaner - service eng. soon light?

I havent had any problems with my series 2 discovery for some time now but today i filled the tank with premium and added 1 bottle of lucas injector cleaner... no problems for a while... after a half hour it started to hesitate a little at take off...then the service engine soon light came on and stayed on
she's still running fine no overheating... what do you think?

I doubt it was the Lucas unless you loosened up alot of carbon.
What year and how many miles on your turck?
I use alot of Lucas, I also recommend it to many people, their gas additive is real mild. I would suggest you get out and put a few good hard freeway miles on her and see if this passes. The light may not go off if a hard code has been set, but if it starts running smoother, I would say it will pass.

Good looking truck. How is it running today? I still think you moved a piece of carbon.

Those are the codes of a failed MAF sensor. Nothing caused by the Lucas additive.

Default Another case of Lucas induced Check Engine alert

OK, this is weird...I put Lucas in my tank for the first time this past Saturday and drove all day, no problem.

Sunday, I started the truck up and bam the Service Engine yellow light came on.

I know there is probably no relationship between adding Lucas and the Service Light coming on, but when I read this thread, I just had to add this.

Oh, yeah, mine is '03 Disco II SE7...only 20K on the odometer.

I took it into the dealer for service today...still waiting to hear what they determine.

hesitation, could be a variety of things...

although indicated as a MAF fault, the MAF could just be dirty and need to be cleaned.

hesitation would be a symtom as its mis reading. clean with carb cleaner and dry with one of those PC air cleaners, remount, disconnet battery for 20mins plus to reset computer. the vehicle may run rough for the first few miles as the system re-learns the optimum point

however the other issue could be the following.......injection cleaners having never been used before in a vehicle.
the first thing it does is clean the gas tank.......which sometimes means the petrol filter gets blocked... lower pressure at the injectors causing hesitation.

Change the petrol filter if fitted.....I always had this problem with my old ford,,,not sure where the filter is on a disco however....

The dealership called and said that the code was 'p0455' and that the problem was that the gas cap was not sealing properly...isn't that special.

They will get me a new gas cap...truck is still under warranty...thank god!

Also, the air conditioning hose has a leak that they are replacing.

So, the issue has nothing to do with the Lucas additive.
