Default Lug nuts

My mothers Disco2 went on a flat today in San Francisco. The rear passenger side tire. Heres the problem 3 of the lug nuts are stripped and the crowbar used to take off the wheels won't fit the stripped lug nuts we can't change the wheels unless the lug nuts are broken off we were told . However is there another way to get off the nuts without breaking the them.

not really. D2 and P38 lugs suck....the caps on them get destroyed and become unuseable. You will have to get them off somehow, but once you do, you can opt to saw off the caps.

Your mom will pretty much just have to replace them. They will try to charge you $20/lug at the dealer.....you can find them at atlantic british for a fraction of that...($10?) When you order them, make sure to get the right color....they have some that are slightly bronze colored I think.

You can take a chisel and cut the caps off....or if you on the side of the freeway i think i would try the old "hammer a socket on" trick. If the lug bolts are 3/4", as an example, just hammer on a 19 or 18 mm socket, the caps are pretty forgiving....worse case senario is it breaks the cap and now you don´t have to chisel it off!!!! later, Dean

Does your Mom take her truck to a particular tire store to get her tires rotated? If so I would call them and let then know what has happened and hold them responsible for the removal and replacement of the lugs. The biggest cause for the lug caps to get stretched is the mechanic using a socket that is too large.
About 2 years ago, that happened to me and my tire store paid all the cost to remove all my lugs. I then went out and bought a 6 point 1 1/16 th socket which I keep in the truck so it won't happen again by mistake.
By the way, you can't break off the lug nuts.

Mikes got a great point there , I had the same problem on my D1 . It was Firestones Fault and they refunded my $$ ! All I did was get a friggin flat fixed and the buggers even hammered on a friggen wheel weight on the outside of my alloy wheel ! Sorry, I hate firestone ! Oh and they had to fix the flat again !

I ended up just de-capping them all and painting them. I dont know what size the D2 & P-38's are un-capped but the D1's are a simple 1'' Socket !

I have the same problem with Firestone. I took my old Mercedes in for an oil change and while the mechanic was under the hood, he started squeezing all the hoses and when he got to the upper rdaiator hose he grabbed it gave it a squeeze and wiggled it to see if it was in need of replacement. Long sttory short, he snapped off the upper inlet pipe and it cost them over $700 for a new factory radiator.
Luckily I was standing next to him when it happened or he would have denied the whole thing.

I hear ya man I use to do alot of buisness with them but the lack of training and common knowledge has become a thing I can't afford ! It always cost me more money when I go to them for anything because of the time it takes to fix there F-ups ! I thank God I have the ability to work on my vehicles myself , now a Euro and a Balancer are on my list ! Hmmm a brake lathe would be nice too ! You shouldn't have to stand over someone at a So-Called professional shop to make sure they don't screw up your baby !
