I know this question was asked in an earlier thread. I read it a couple weeks ago but can't find it now and the question was never resolved.
Anyway, inside the maf sensor housing, before the sensor wire is a big, thick screen. Seems to me any obstruction inside the intake would restrict air flow. Less air flow means less power. Question: Does anyone know the purpose of this screen and if it would cause problems/codes if the screen were removed from the housing?

I figured it was probably something like that. Oh well, it never hurts to ask.
