Default Magnecore cables

I recently ordered a set of 8mm Magnecores from our sponsor (btw great, no hassle, quick service) and am hoping to install these later this week. For interest sake, I measured the resistance of all cables. In order of lomgest to shortest sets:
1. 7.27 kOhm (longest lead)
2. 6.89 kOhm
3. 6.41 kOhm
4. 6.30 kOhm
5. 5.52 kOhm
6. 5.65 kOhm
7. 5.90 kOhm
8. 4.13 kOhm (shortest lead)

The "spread" of values kinda surprises me. I do not know the resistance of a spark plug, but this should also be reasonably low, so as to create the biggest possible spark.
Assuming that the igition source supplies the same current strength (i) for all cylinders, then the cylinders furthest away from the coil (fan end) would be producing the smallest spark (i.e. lowest potential difference = voltage).

Something to ponder on.... any thoughts ?
Or shall I just not think and install these anyway. It'll be interesting to see what resistance the stock cables measure.

Magna Core has a pretty good technical information site that explains performance related to resistance. It's lengthy, but a good read

Default finished replacing the cables

oh boy, it's a tight spot to access and replace the cables. My hands still hurted two days later. The new 8mm Magnacore certainly improved performance as the Disco is much more responsive. The day after, I drove 900 miles to Philadelphia and my fuel economy had climbed from previously 16-17 mpg to 19 mpg (at 75 mph average speed).

One issue with the Magnacore's however is that the cables are way to short for the cylinders closest to the distributor (7 and 8). They are in fact so short that one is tight onto the tappet cover. I normally prefer to have the cables neat in the clips, but here... no can do. Perhaps our sponsor can help here

In case anybody has mis-wired cables, I made a simple diagram of how the cables are to be wired on a typical Disco series II.

As a matter of interest, I measured the resistance of the old stock cables. In order of longest to shortest:
1. 19.08 kOhm
2. 183.6 kOhm (obviously bad cable)
3. 27.65 kOhm
4. 13.70 kOhm
5. 9.1 kOhm
6. 11.07 kOhm
7. 6.62 kOhm
8. 6.2 kOhm

I am wondering if they sent you the wrong set, maybe the set for the D1. My set fit with room to spare.
Sure was nice to feel the difference they made to my truck also.

I had the same problem with 7mm wires, 7 and 8 were to short to fit into the clips.

Great wire diagram!

I checked last night on the Magnecore website and it seems to be the correct part number. At least on the box. Looking at the old cables, I noticed that cable #8 is the shortest, whilst #7 the second shortest. I think that I installed them the other way round, that probably explains why #7 seems to be soooo short. I'll fix it when I'm mentally ready to stress my hands in those tight spots.

I hear for those tight spots, Vasoline or better yet KY Jelly will let you slip right in and out, be done before you realize it.

Would those wires fit on the 4.6L engine?
