Default manual shift and sport shift lights blinking?

I turned on the D2 and the M and S were blinking together. I tried different gears and pressing mode but nothing happened. I turned it off, then started it back up and they didn't do it? Whats the deal? And what is the manual mode anyway? (ive only been able to switch between nothing and S)

Don't continue to drive your truck when the mode lights are flashing, you will go into limp mode and then can damage the tranny.
Get it into a shop that is familiar with the ZF tranny very quickly.

If they are now off, it could have been a glitch, how many miles on the truck, how often do you change your ATF?

MnMike
the S is sport mode and will hold the revs about 1000 rpm above normal when changing gears, usualy used when you need a bit friskier response from your disco, say at intersections or when overtaking on dual carriage ways

M is manual mode for when the the box is in low ratio, selecting M will allow manual selection of gears and will only change up or down when you select
regards
martin

Mine did the same thing once. It happened after I had given her a good washing. I brought it in and had it inspected. They couldn't find anything wrong and they (dealer) told me that moisture can cause the sensor to read erratic. Needless to say, this happened about 30K miles ago and hasn't happened since.
