In the market for a 2000-2002 DII - Land Rovers Only

My girlfriend is in the market for a Discovery II, what should I look out for, and are there any main concerns I should have? Thanks in advance!

As long as she realizes, it is not an easy vehicle to maintain, burns high octane only and be a little tempermental.
Other then that I would point her towards a 2000 and keep the price under $6000.

With the market as soft as it is on used vehicles, especially Rovers I would try for $500 to $1000 off of that price if you can.

Vince - try and get a feel for previous maintenance. If you seach on this forum the Mikes 60k service list - that'll give you a feel for questions to ask. It's not that the fluids etc are tough to change, but if they can prove they've been done, you're more likely to be looking at a cared for truck. I bought a 2000 DII 18months ago for $9k 88k miles and it's now done 101k. Had to replace a steering damper and had a little trouble with the SLS (Self Leveling rear suspension) but apart from fluid changes it's been good. Gary.
