Cool Melted transmission hose?

I just got my oil changed @ oil can henrys and the dude changing my oil pointed out this hose had melted. He says its a vacuum hose to the transmission. I'm not much of a mechanic but it seems like that would make sense. My LR is running perfectly fine so i cant imagine what harm its doing? Could I just cut off the melted piece of hose and buy claps and a rubber hose for a quick fix?

That is not a vacuum hose, that is the tranny vent line.

I would cut off the burned section, attach a hose to the pie and relocate the cirved section of the pipe higher up against the fire wall where it started.
