Question Missing OBDII port on 99 disco II

Hello all,
On Saturday I bought a 1999 Disco II knowing I would have to put some work into it. By Sunday I had already removed the center console and to remove the stuck low range solenoid and to make a CDL mechanism and I think I have that well in hand thanx to instructions I found on the net.

But I also have a service engine soon light. My initial guess (or hope) is it's a MAF or O2 sensor but I wanted to scan to see. The problem is it has no OBDII port! I spent about 20 minutes on 3 separate occasions looking for it. I think I know where it should be. Under the driver's dash about the area of the left knee. When I look there there is a little broken plastic but no port. I searched for a loose connector or wiring thinking it might have been broken off it's bracket and just stowed under the dash, but nothing. I did find one loose 8 pin connector but it's not OBD and only has 3 wires going to it. Any ideas? Does anyone have the schematic or IPC (illustrated parts catalog) showing the port with the associated harness/pigtail?

Thanks in advance,
Kerry

Nope. I spent 10 minutes with me head under the steering wheel looking and feeling around. The guy with the scanner at part americas couldn't find it either.

That is where I am looking. All that is left is a little piece of plastic under a screw. I could undstand if it were broken off and the port was just hanging there, but there is nothing that I can find. Does anyone know where the OPD port ties into the harness? Maybe I can find that point and work from there.

Thx,
Kerry

That picture is of a RH drive vehicle.
Notice the location brake pedal, dead pedal and transmission tunnel.

Good catch. But the dash below the steering wheel (LHD) is where I have looked and still not found a thing. Can someone can look at their rig and trace the wire from the OBD port and left me know where it meets the rest of the harness?

Thank you!

so kerryman, im guessing you have a right hand drive vehicle? because in the us after 96 it was required to be put by the right knee under the dash on left hand drive vehicles. if its missing, go find the previous owner and kick him.

No its's a left hand drive (LHD). Best guess is that the connector broke off of the mount and someobdy just stashed it in a dark hole under the dash somewhere. If I knew where the OBD cable meets the rest of the wire harness I could backtrack...

if its LHD it should be by your right knee. did you flip the picture or something (which is now missing) because it looked like a RHD?

i still think the idea of going to the old owner and kicking him is a good idea (unless he/she was your friend).

and if the connector was knocked off then the wires should still be somewhere up there by your right knee
