There is NO cdl in a 2003 Disco. You have to buy a whole New transfer case w/ cdl.. Preferably a used 2004 Tcase with low miles. Quote:
Because Ford sucks.

So pretty much what ya'll are saying that the all wheel drive isn't to "all-wheel". Just two tires have power going to them, one front and one back? This might be why i cant get across ditch sidways but straight is a breeze.
Jupiter, the tire specialist that i took the truck to said that what i have on now are equvilant to 32's but could easily go biger because i still have about four inches of clearance between the tires and fenders. |

Well, do you plan on off roading with your disco?
Also, what is your Current tire size? (I know you said 32, but what are the numbers...) All because there is clearance does not mean you should stuff all that clearance with rubber.. you need some play room.

I'll be glad to ship it to you if you provide an address. NO CHARGE, just down the road, help another Rover fellow |

They stopped putting the CDL on mid year 01's and then put them on the 04's with the lever standard.

i resent that man. fords are great. yeah they made a few mistakes but in any other hands, land rovers would have become van hybrid hatchback pieces of crap.
but they are very stupid for selling land rover and jag.

Ford selling Land Rover was the best thing that could have happened.. If Land Rover stayed with Ford that would be the only reason for a crappy hatchback like you say.
Now that Land Rover is with Tata we should be seeing Defenders in the USA (finally).. and much better quality rovers. I am still waiting for the response of Landy118 about his tires.. ^^

Also guys, although sport mode causes the vehicle to cost more in gas with stock tires, it does the complete opposite with larger tires, where it revs a bit more in each gear therefore facilitating the forward movement instead of struggling to advance. It almost acts as if the gears were lower, except from a dead stop of course.

If I'm rite, the CDL was an optional extra and it had to be specified when you bought the Discovery from new at the dealer, it had to be fitted at the factory. The cost was £300 here in the Uk. I don’t know if they ever exported any or if it was an option for you guys in the USA, I guess there must be a few Discovery out there with this option all ready fitted. I think they fitted CDL as standard towards the end of the production of the Discovery2 in 04, basically using up what stock they had before going over to manufacturing the LR3 Discovery 3 here in the UK. If this were the case it would have been 600 Dollar well spent. I guess the guys who bought these trucks from new didn’t want to use them off road.

1999-(half of the 2001s) had a CDL but no linkage. and TC (Traction Control) Other half of 2001s - 2003 had No CDL. 2003-2004 had a Superior version of the TC 2004 CDL + TC 99% sure all that info is right.
