Default MP3 in my Disco II

I would like to somehow hardwire my ipod into my Disco II's stereo. I know I can get an fm receiver, but I don't want to.

I want to be able to plug my ipod into a hole in the dash or under the seat where the CD changer is. Anyone done anything like this before?

I've done it, but I actually swapped out the head unit for an Alpine as well. The iPod dock connector is in the glove box.

I believe you can find adapters for hard-wiring, to either the cd-changer or antenna points, it's been a while since I looked.

I'm currently working on this...

Just have to get the head unit to think there is a cd changer connected, then we can use the low-inputs. For now, i'm using one of those tape adapters that has a wire with a 1/8th jack for my ipod. I know it's ghetto. I tried the Belkin FM transmitter and it sounded like shit compared to the tape adapter.

Hopefully i'll figure it out soon.

If you replace the stock unit with say an Alpine, will the control buttons on the steering wheel still work? I'm just using my ipod and a cassette plug in for now as well, way ghetto.

With the Alpine you then have to buy another aftermarket piece to do the signal conversion for the steering wheel controls to work. That's not so easy an intall though they are out there.

I knew I'd seen a direct plug in though, and here it is: http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/8865.cfm

Keep in mind with that setup you loose the CD changer.

BlitzSafe or SoundGate can provide that- cut out the middleman and the mark up and go to the manufacturer.

Default Disco Air Con control lights

Guys, I have an 03 disco with the usual split air con. Last night the light on the buttons that control this seemed to have stopped working. Well all of them except the lights on the drivers side temperature adjustment toggle which are still working.
Has anyone had this problem and is it a simple bulb replacement issue or does it have an underlying issue thet is likely to cost be a bucket load of cash?
If it is a bulb job some pointers on how to get to them to swap them out would also be greatly appreciated.

here you go....

http://www.logjamelectronics.com/bli...mlink1v1d.html

the only downside to this is.....you can't use your factor changer, you have to replace it with an aftermarket alpine unit and this is just an ipod interface, but it does charge your ipod, no steering controls for the ipod.

or this

http://www.monstercable.com/icruze/c...or/default.asp

but you totally lose your cd changer, but you have steering wheel controls over the ipod.

I use this...

http://www.griffintechnology.com/pro...deck/index.php

its a cassette adpator, but when you hit FF or REW, it bumps the ipod forward or back a song....works fairly well, but I think I'm wearing out my tape deck with it....

this is kinda cool....its an inline FM transmitter with RDBS capabilites, so your rover deck with show the song title from the ipod....I don' think this is out yet though.

I've had the blitzsafe and newer alpine changer in my '04 DII for a year now. Works awesome and I have no issues with it (which is rare).

When I sold my original DII changer on ebay, I actually made enough money to pay for the new changer which was surprising. It's an easy sell for the S model DII's.
