Default My new lift.

I recieved the OME lift I ordered from Great Basin Rovers - catalog info today around 2:00PM.
I ordered 4 springs(OME),4 shockes (OME) 1 Steering stabilzer(OME) Total to my Door was $775.00

After calling every shop in town to pay some one to get and install the lift, I decided to Get & install it my self.

Some of the Bids(labor+Lift+alignment)
$1280.00
$1145.00
$1035.00
$734.00(Leschwab, local tire company decided they could not order the parts any more and passed me on)
I purchased around $200.00 worth of tools, since i had none.

Including a 3-ton jack 2+6-ton jack stands and a 50-Piece socket set and 2-SAE & Metric"long wrench set" and a Standard mertic wrench set. 1- spring compresser=$31.00

An 18MM long wrench was my main hand tool.

It turns out I did not need the spring compresser and after trieing to use it once on the first spring it just turned out to be more of a hassel that benifit.

Front:
1.Disconnected the Sway bar Axel pivit point.
2.Removed shock tower and Shock its self.
3.Disconnect front drive line at Axel(This allowed the front axel to drop far enough for the spring just to fall out.

Rear:
1.Disconnect sway bar at top of axel pivit point.
2.Remove shock.
3.remove brake caliper(hang off of frame)
4.This allowed me to drop the Axel so the spring just fell out.

Took me 8 hours including buying tools.

I ordered the OME 1.75 lift medium Duty, the parts I recieved suggest I recieved the OME 1.75 heavy duty.
FrontPart I recieved #OME779
Rear part I recieved #OME762

I measured the the vehicle before and after.
Measure point=Floor to bottom edge of fender flare.
Before=33"
After=36"
So it looks like I gained 3" instead of the 1.75",now I am not sure how accurate this is, and I have no idea how much if any the medium Duty parts would have gained compared to the Heavy Duty parts.

I am perfectly happy with the result though. I will be geeting the tires put on tomarrow.
Tires: Nitto Terra Graplers 285/60/18's and will post pics.

Some of the pics show how far I was able to drop the Axels which made it easy.No need for the spring compresser.
The from OME(779's) where the same height of the stock ones.
The rear (762"s) where about 1-3/4" taller than the stock ones.

Some after the tires High res pics. looks like there is plenty of room in the front, around the tire.

I ordered 5 tires, the spare will not mount it is a tad to big, i will need to modify the bracket some how.

I removed the bracket and drilled holes about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch lower ( not sure exactly) and reinstalled it. Works perfect.

I'm probably wrong about this but isn't it possible to flip the bracket for extra clearance on the disco?

If I'm incorrect I'm just a dumb RRC owner that thought he read that somewhere before

Ya, I looked at that after removing the bracket.First thing i thought of.

I ended up Sliding the bracket up 3/8 inch(play in the holes) and then adding 1/4 inch shims to the lower holes to pitch the bracket upwards.

The tire rest securly on the bumber now with just minor rub while opening the door,I think it will work out good in the long run with some of the weight of the tire resting on the bumber.

How did you get that tire cover to fit??

The Disco drive's so much better now, must be the tire size. we have the worst roads in the state(Road tax money go;'s to save the whales in cali I think even though I live in oregon)

the ruts are deep and before this LR would jump all over the place now it just glides through the ruts.

Spare tire cover was custom made by a guy on ebay. Stitchsmith creation. Super cool guy, great service and incredible product. That cover has the Giant Land rover logo, its made with what they call denim vinyl ( like the Jeeps have from bestop) and as you can see in the picture, it also has vinyl piping around the seem.

Best of all... the buy it now price was $49.95 ( starts at 39.95 for stock size tires but over size is $10 more) and shipping to Canada was not even $20 ( $17) so this guy deserves to be known. Go do a search on ebay, he has numerous designs for Land Rovers. Tell him Steph sent you.

Apparently the bracket can be turned around for tire clearance, but I had thought of that and since I was pressed for time ( was at my friend's tire shop and it was passed midnight) I found it easier to just drill holes lower than do the mods necessary to flip the carrier. Not sure I remember perectly, but I think there was an issue with the wiper clearance when doing the flip.
