Pat, the cheapest place to get automotive relays without ordering them is Radio Shack. They'll have switches there too. But if you buy a light kit it may come with this stuff.

Ian, I like your idea better with the switch controlling the ground side of the relay. It is relatively simple to do, and hell if I really needed to use the lights back there while working or something, I can simply turn the key to ON, apply the parking brake, and put her into reverse, given that I don't drain the battery.

Roverhound, yeah, I have yet to go to Radio Shack and see what goodies they got there, cause I also want to get a switch pod that can house 4 switches, one for my front lights, two to control the roof rack lights, one for the reverse lights (ground).

Be careful about switching the ignition on without running the motor for any length of time. It can overheat and stuff your coil(s).

Yeah I was told about that by my Engine Performance Instructor, especially the way it is so cold out right now here in the states.
