I am just curious if anynone on the site is aware of a good, HONEST mechanic in Kansas City, Missouri. I am machanically inclined, but limited due to lack of tools.
Honest is needed because I don't want to get ripped off. I took the LR to a mechanic(ADAMS AUTO-bad for anyone in KC) to have it inspected and the guy told me my ball joints were no good(I did not a agree, he tried to show me). Two other mechanics told me there was not a problem when I took it for a second and third opinion(I would not take it these mechanics either though). I then took it to the highway patrol to get it overturned, which they did. They proceded to tell me there was no movement. Needless to say I am looking for someones trusted mechanic in the Kansas City area. The only dealership that works on LR is Aristocrat Motors of KC. They wanted $400 to replace my oil pan gasket. $50 for the parts and $350 for labor, a#@ h(&*. $400 to drain the oil, unscrew 6 bolts replace a gasket and put it back together. Am I missing something? Is there another source for this part? I am doing this one myself. 1. Trusted LR mech. 2. Oil Pan gasket that is not $50 I thought they were more in the range of $10-$20? I had to vent. Duke |

check ab prices,
but ball joints thats funny. now you could have a few bad tie rod ends, you can push up and down on them and if they move up and down well they are loose and need to be replaced. 400 dollars for an oilpan that probably has other problems too that the rookie cant even be bothered with cause its too hard to work on. oh and there are around twelve bolts on the pan.
